What will I study?



We offer the T Level in Heating Engineering and Ventilation at Level 3. Do you want a career in Construction that gives you great progression and career opportunities on this new generation of qualifications that offer an attractive technical alternative to studying three different A levels. This exciting two year course which has been designed with employers to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to work within the construction sector. The core content is the building blocks of knowledge and skills that gives a learner a broad understanding of the industry and job roles. While at the same time developing the core skills they will need to apply when working within the industry. You will study in the new state of the art facility in quality workshops and classrooms with support from expert tutors and great online learning platforms.

Install Heating & Ventilation Systems

Commission Heating & Ventilation Systems

Maintain Heating & Ventilation  Systems

 

This is a great opportunity as part of your industry placement for you to work alongside professionals, become part of the team and develops your skills in how to put theory into practice.

How will I be assessed?

Year 1 Core Assessments

Core Exam: These exams will be made up of different question types covering the core topics  that include short answer questions, structured questions, and extended response questions. The exam paper will consist of part A and part B. The level of difficulty will increase through the paper with lower demand questions at the beginning of the question paper to higher demand questions at the end of the question paper.
Employer set project: Each project will be developed together with employers in the industry to reflect realistic types of developments, activities and challenges. The project is made up of a number of tasks which all relate to the same employer-set project brief and tender specification. 

Year 2 Occupational Specialism Assessments
The Occupational Specialism Component is assessed by an externally set assignment which is internally marked and externally moderated. 
You will be assessed on the following:
• System installation
• System commissioning
• System maintenance
• System decommissioning

What will this lead to?

Successful completion of this qualification will  enable  you to progress onto the following courses/programmes:

o  Building services engineering service and maintenance engineer/ Building services engineering craftsperson Apprenticeship

o   BTEC Level 4 HNC in Building Services Engineering

o   Building Services Engineering BTEC HND

Employment in the construction sector carrying out roles that include:

Building Services Engineer 

Building Services Engineer  Installer

Heating & Ventilation Engineer

Entry requirements

Entry Level Courses : 
Skills for Life & Work 
No formal qualifications are required for this course, although evidence of personal progression from previous education establishments would be beneficial.  
These courses are specifically designed for learners with a special educational need (SEND). 

Skills & Employability  
English & maths GCSE Grades G-U / 1 or English & maths Functional Skills Entry Level 3  

Full Time ESOL
No formal qualification are required for this course, you will recieve an offer of a place subject to passing an assessment;

Full Time GCSE Re-sit Study Course
You will receive an offer of a place on the course subject to passing an assessment. 

Full Time Level 1 Course 
English & Maths GCSE Grades E-G/1- 2 or English & Maths Functional Skills Entry Level 3. 

Full Time Level 2 Course 
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 including English and Maths or a vocational qualification Level 1 in the chosen subject, plus GCSE grade D/3 in both English and Maths. 
English & Maths Functional Skills Level 1 will be accepted as an alternative to GCSEs.  

Full time Level 3 Course
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A-C/4-9 (including English and Maths) or a vocational qualification Level 2 in the chosen subject,
English & Maths Functional Skills Level 2 will be accepted as an alternative to GCSEs in some subject areas.  

T Level 
Minimum of 4 GCSE passes but English and Maths GCSE must be Grade 4 or above. 
T levels in Science and Healthcare Science will also require a minimum of a grade 4 in a GCSE Science subject.

Cost

If you are aged between 16 and 18 when you start your course and are taking a course leading to a qualification, the tuition and exam fees are free. However, there may be some additional costs for optional trips, recommended text books and professional start up kits. We have a bursary scheme to assist with these costs.

  • If you're aged 19 or over, you may be eligible for funding towards your course fees. It will depend on your personal circumstances and will be discussed at enrolment. You will be asked to bring documentation with you when you are invited to enrol.
  • If you are aged 19 and over and study Maths or English and do not already hold a C grade/4 or higher in the subject that you are studying, you will get the course for free.
