What will I study?

Do you want to be part of the next generation of Early Years Professionals that lead the way on creating inspirational learning experiences and environments that maximise children’s early development? If you answered yes to the previous question, then this is your opportunity to enrol on this new generation of Gold Standard qualifications as a technical alternative to A Levels.

We offer a T Level in Education and Childcare with the specific occupational specialism in Assisting teaching. This is an exciting two-year course that has been designed with key employers in the sector to provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to work within the early years sector.

You will study a wide range of core subjects covering all key aspects of education and childcare, to include child development, supporting education, observation and assessment and working with others. These will be taught by expert and industry experienced tutors using our wide range of onsite resources including our state of the art newly developed real world learning environments.

Throughout the two years you will develop your practical skills and apply your newly developed core knowledge in real life situations as part of the industry placement component. The placements last for a minimum of 315 hours throughout the course. Industry placements provide an excellent opportunity to work alongside a range of early years experts with opportunities to establish professional contacts in the sector.

To enrol on the course you must have a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths but you will need at least a grade 5 in these two subjects.

How will I be assessed?

Core modules: You will be assessed through two externally set exams and an employer set project; this is a controlled assessment completed within College and is linked to your industry work placement experience.

Specialist modules: There are three externally set assessments. One will be an observation of your learnt knowledge and skills in your industry placement. The others are exam-based assessments.

What will this lead to?

Successful completion of this course opens a variety of progression opportunities. As this T Level attracts UCAS point scores equal to 3 A Levels you can apply to take a degree at university. Alternatively, it could lead directly into employment in a skilled occupation such as Early Years Educator or you could take a higher apprenticeship.
