What's On

Calling all employers!

We’re looking to form partnerships with employers across Oldham and Greater Manchester, to enable our young people to develop a wide range of valuable skills on apprenticeships and work placements.

APPRENTICESHIPS

In today’s recruitment market, hiring experienced people with the exact skills you need can be a challenge. By developing your existing staff, and bringing in new apprentices to support them, you can get the skills your organisation needs now – and build a solid pipeline of talent for the future.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO EMPLOYERS?

Develop a talent pipeline: developing employees with an apprenticeship from day one will create a passion and willingness to integrate themselves in the workplace, making them a great addition to your team.

Bridge skills gaps: Your employee might also be further along in their career, and want to attain higher level knowledge, or change roles whilst staying in work. You may be able to fill a skills gap without having to take on more staff, giving your employees the opportunity to grow as your business grows.

Grow your business: An apprenticeship has to be relevant to an individual’s job role and they must dedicate time during work towards it.

WORK EXPERIENCE

As part of a course, Oldham College students complete an unpaid work placement. This is a great opportunity for our students to develop their skills and gain experience in a sector related to their course. Students become more equipped and prepared for the working world.

This means you benefit from your employees having dedicated time to focus on transformational projects and opportunities for your organisation, which can be put into practice.

INDUSTRY PLACEMENTS

T Levels are new Level 3 technical qualifications. These two-year qualifications sit alongside traditional A Levels and apprenticeships, providing an alternative route into employment or higher study.

T Levels include an industrial placement, designed to give students a high-quality technical qualification, equipping them with the skills and knowledge which employers are looking for.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO EMPLOYERS?

Foster future talent: get to know students and identify talented individuals who you may wish to offer apprenticeships or employment to in the future. Young people bring a fresh perspective, good subject knowledge and skills, and energy to support your business.

Extra help at no cost: industrial placement students carry out real work while developing their skills and knowledge. The placement forms part of their studies so they are not paid a salary. You can pay them if you wish or help with things like travel expenses.

Boost your company’s reputation: those who complete placements with you will talk to their friends and family, and mention their experiences on social media. A good placement experience can quickly enhance your brand and make you a business people want to work for.

Develop staff management and supervisory skills: supervising or managing placement students can help to develop your employees’ leadership skills, boosting job satisfaction and retention.

If you think you could offer a young person an apprenticeship, work experience or industry placement opportunity, please get in touch!
