Course Aims

The Ascentis Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma has some fantastic features to benefit learners. This Level 3 qualification, licensed by the QAA and accepted by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) throughout the UK, prepares learners who are returning to education or who left school without the qualifications required to be able to progress on to higher education.

What will I study?

This Ascentis to Higher Education (Law and Criminology) course has been designed to provide adult learners with a Level 3 bridging course to prepare them for a transition to University.  Aimed at mature students who wish to build their knowledge technical and academic skills to access university. You will study a well-rounded curriculum which will prepare you for your degree of choice. This curriculum consists of 18 units of varying law and criminology topics as well as educational visits and masterclasses from leading practitioners employers and/or universities.
You will study introductory units in Law Making and in Criminology as well as academic research skills. Further content covers areas such as Law of Tort,  Contract Law,  Criminal Justice and Police Powers and more.
Furthermore we will support your university application process including researching your university and course of choice and funding applications.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will be through coursework, some graded. some ungraded. Graded work will be awarded a Pass,  Merit or Distinction. Your final grade will be provided upon completion of all modules.
Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded an Ascentis Access to Higher Education Diploma in Law and Criminology

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grades A-C/4-9 (including maths and English)  Functional Skills level 2 will be accepted as an alternative to GCSEs. Although preferable, no previous work experience within the business sector is required.  This course is designed to enable mature learners to access higher education. You will be helped with UCAS applications, study and the research skills that are needed for you to be successful in your chosen university course.
