Some of our World Skills winners and finalists were recently warmly welcomed by the Mayor and Mayoress of Oldham to receive an appreciation award. 

The awards are given to those who have shown exceptional dedication and service to the community – helping to make Oldham a better place. 

During the visit, the Mayor spoke with learners Jake, Ellie and Marcus about their journeys so far, their achievements at WorldSkills UK and their aspirations for the future. 

IT Support Technician learner Jake achieved Gold at the 2025 WorldSkills Finals, while Ellie proudly secured Silver in the Foundation Skills: Hairdressing competition. Marcus also earned recognition, winning Bronze in the IT Support Technician competition at the 2024 WorldSkills National Finals. 

The visit also included a tour of the new Oldham Council offices, with learners exploring the council chamber and Gallery Oldham. 

It was a memorable and inspiring experience for our learners, and a great way to recognise their hard work and commitment.
