Inspiring creative workshops with Rio Ferdinand Foundation

Digital & Creative learners have recently completed a 5-week bespoke programme with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation (RFF), exploring pathways into the creative industries.

Learners attended eight practical, inspiring workshops including DJing, music production, animation and podcasting, delivered by industry professionals with the aim of providing opportunities they may not otherwise have access to.

Throughout the programme, learners have acquired new skills, expanded their networks and have gained more clarity on the range of creative careers they can pursue.

Here’s some of the positive feedback given by participants at the end of the programme:

  • “This programme has helped show me the variety of things that I can do, both for education and as a profession.”
  • “My favourite part was trying new things out, like radio and DJing – they were all very fun to learn about. The experience also helped me to understand how these different fields work.”
  • “This programme has helped me discover other areas in the media I would like to explore.”

Ryan Hunt, Programme Manager at RFF, said:

“This is a project we have been looking to run for a few years now and the chance to bring it to Oldham College, a place where we have such a strong relationship from previous programmes, has been amazing.

“On behalf of our team and the wider Rio Ferdinand Foundation, I would like to thank Oldham College for such a warm and welcoming experience, and we look forward to working together again in the near future.”
