Esports industry experience ‘levels up’ our learners

Esports learners have completed two weeks of industry experience, helping them to develop work-ready skills and learn from professionals who have forged successful careers in the field.

During these two weeks, learners were set simulated industry briefs across a range of Esports roles – giving them the opportunity to apply their skills to career-based scenarios and receive valuable employer feedback.

The work experience began with a launch event at Manchester City’s City Football Academy.

At the event, speakers from Simply Race and Chillblast, Esports professionals Dom Sacco and Michael O’Dell, shoutcasters Jake Sparey and Zach Sweeney shared their career journeys and advice.

Learners were visited at college by the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering (NCME) from the University of Greater Manchester, to learn more about the student engineering competition Formula Student and the links between Esports, STEM subjects and motorsport education. James Montgomery, founder of JJRacing, also delivered a guest lecture about how to organise esports events.

Finally, visits to higher education institutions, such as Edge Hill University, gave learners an insight into the career paths and further study options available to them.

It’s thanks to the strength of our partnerships within Esports that this exciting opportunity has been brought to life!
