You can get expert tuition and coaching to help you compete a national level, meet other technical students and experts and learn together.
WorldSkills UK’s national skills competitions are returning this year and we want to be right at the heart of the action.
This competition-based development programme is based on the highest international skills and is relaunching to help young people like you get the high-quality skill set and mindset that employers are looking for to recover from the pandemic.
We are encouraging learners and apprentices to register for WorldSkills UK competitions before the May 14 deadline.

There are more than 60 different skills competitions available at WorldSkills UK ranging from digital, engineering and construction through to health, hospitality and lifestyle skills – and all are free to enter.
There are also 10 Foundation Skills competitions aimed at learners with special educational needs and disabilities, additional learning needs, or who need additional support for learning.

The WorldSkills UK programmes are designed by industry experts and assess your employability attributes against set criteria in a competitive timed environment.
They also have a positive impact on participants with 90 per cent of previous entrants agreeing their career progression improved, and 86 per cent stating that their personal and employability skills had improved. If you excel in the national qualifier competitions you will be invited to take part in the national finals in November: with the winners crowned the UK’s best in their chosen skill at a national celebration event. Finalists also get the opportunity to represent the UK at WorldSkills, known as the “skills Olympics”, which takes place every two years. WorldSkills UK is currently training a squad of apprentices and students to take part in WorldSkills Shanghai 2022.

“Young people’s prospects have been hit disproportionately hard by the pandemic, so this is a fantastic opportunity to get expert tuition and coaching to compete at a national level – and potentially on a global stage.
“All those taking part will get to meet other technical experts and students, and learn together. Participation will help them to redefine their mindset skills and build professional life attributes that we know employers really value. This will help them to get the high-quality skills that will be in high demand to rebuild the economy.”
As part of our major commitment to WorldSkills UK, Oldham College has also joined their ‘Inclusivity in Excellence’ Pilot Programme.
This aims to increase engagement and participation from diverse communities by taking action to remove the barriers and challenges to entry.
The vision is to ensure that Team UK will be truly reflective of the UK’s young people by 2025. This project will support all competitor engagement from diverse backgrounds with an increased focus on those identified as currently underrepresented in the skill competitions, which are:
