Financial Support

If you are aged 16-18, or aged 19-25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), you may be eligible for support through the 16-18 Bursary Fund. Eligibility is based on your individual circumstances and household income.

If you are aged 19 or over and studying an eligible course, you may be able to receive support through the Adult Bursary Fund. Eligibility is based on your individual circumstances and household income.

You may be eligible for additional support if you:

• Are in care or a care leaver
• Receive Income Support or Universal Credit in your own name because you are financially supporting yourself or a dependant, such as a child or partner
• Receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) alongside Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit in your own name.

Asylum seekers and refugees can apply for bursary support and will be assessed under the relevant bursary fund criteria.

If you need support opening a bank account or completing your application, please contact the Bursary team for guidance.

Eligible learners may receive support towards meals while attending college. Full-time learners who meet eligibility criteria may receive up to £6.00 per day in meal credit on timetabled college days.

Free breakfast is available to all learners daily from 8.00am-8.45am in our ViewPoint Café and Hive Café outlets.

Please note that unused meal credit cannot be carried over or reimbursed.

Support may be available towards the cost of travelling to and from college.

Learners aged 16-18 can apply for Our Pass, providing bus travel across Greater Manchester. If you do not travel by bus, alternative travel support may be available through the bursary.

Eligible learners may receive travel support for timetabled days in college. To qualify, you must live more than half a mile from college and maintain weekly attendance of 90% or above.

Support may be available for essential books, equipment and kit required for your course.

In some cases, your faculty may be able to order the items you need on your behalf. If you buy any items yourself, you will need to keep your receipt or other proof of purchase. We will use this to review your application and determine how much we may be able to contribute towards the cost.

Support may be available towards the cost of uniforms and PPE required for your course.

Support may be available for additional travel and meal costs incurred while attending work placements.

Please speak to your Work Placement Officer or the Bursary team for further advice.

During your course, you will have the opportunity to attend educational trips linked to your course. Support may be available for costs associated with these trips.

Please speak to your tutor if you require support with a course-related trip.

Eligible learners may be able to receive reimbursement of their UCAS application fee.

Support may be available to help with the additional travel and meal costs incurred when attending a university interview.

If you are under the age of 20 at the start of your course, you can apply for funding towards your childcare costs through the Care to Learn scheme.

Care to Learn can contribute up to £180 per week towards your childcare costs for your timetabled days in college. If your weekly childcare costs are higher than this, you can contact the Bursary team to request additional support through the bursary to help cover the difference, subject to eligibility and available funding.

To apply, please complete the relevant childcare application form and return this to the Bursary team. You should also submit your online bursary application.

If you are aged 20 or over, support may be available to help with childcare costs while you attend college.

Eligibility will be assessed as part of your bursary application.

Butterflies Nursery is the College’s on-site nursery.

Eligible learners may receive support of up to 100% of childcare costs, subject to assessment and available funding.

Please contact Butterflies Nursery directly to check availability before applying.

Support may be available for up to 80% of childcare costs where your childcare provider is Ofsted registered.

You should contact your chosen provider before applying to ensure a place is available.
