What is Clearing?
Clearing is the UCAS process that matches applicants with higher education courses that still have places available.
How do I apply through Clearing?
Before results day, take some time to explore our undergraduate course areas and find the course that’s right for you.
Once you’ve received your results, contact our Admissions Team. We’ll discuss your qualifications, answer your questions and let you know whether we can offer you a place. If we can, we’ll explain the next steps and guide you through the Clearing process.

Who is Clearing for?
Clearing isn’t just for students who didn’t get the results they expected.
You can also use Clearing if you:
- Changed your plans
- Missed the UCAS application deadline
- Decided later that higher education is the right next step for you
- Are applying after receiving your results.
Whatever your circumstances, Clearing gives you another opportunity to find the right course.
Add your Clearing Choice
Once we’ve confirmed that we can offer you a place, log in to your UCAS Hub to add your Clearing Choice.
If you’ve already applied through UCAS, have your UCAS Personal ID and Clearing number ready when you contact us. If you’re eligible to use Clearing, you can find your Clearing number in your UCAS Hub.
Enter the course details we’ve provided. Once we’ve accepted your Clearing Choice, UCAS will confirm your place.

- Explore the courses you’re interested in before results day
- Make a shortlist of the courses you’d like to apply for
- Keep your phone nearby on results day so you’re ready to speak to our Admissions Team
- Contact our Admissions Team as soon as you’ve received your results
- Once we’ve confirmed we can offer you a place, add your Clearing Choice through UCAS as soon as possible

Yes. You can explore our undergraduate course areas before results day and contact our Admissions Team if you have any questions.
Once you’ve received your results, we’ll discuss your options and advise you on the next steps.
What happens when I contact the Admissions Team?
Our friendly Admissions Team will talk through your options with you and answer any questions you have. They’ll ask about the course you’re interested in and your qualifications to check whether we can offer you a place.
If we can make you an offer, we’ll explain the next steps and guide you through the Clearing process. If you’re unsure about anything, don’t worry. We’re here to help.
I haven't applied through UCAS. What are my options?
Don’t worry. You can still apply directly to University Campus Oldham. Our Admissions Team will discuss the best application route for you, answer any questions you have and guide you through the application process.
I've changed my mind about where I want to study. Is Clearing right for me?
Yes. Clearing isn’t just for students who didn’t get the results they expected. If your plans have changed or you’ve decided that University Campus Oldham is the right place for you, we’ll be happy to discuss your options and help you find the right course.
I'm not sure I'll meet the entry requirements. Is it still worth getting in touch?
Yes. We’d always encourage you to contact our Admissions Team. We’ll take the time to understand your qualifications and discuss the options available to you. Depending on your circumstances, there may be alternative courses or progression routes that are a better fit.
