Oldham College accredited by ground-breaking sports and career scheme

18th May 2026

We have been accredited as a Dual Career Accredited Site by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) UK, part of the SportsAid family. This accolade demonstrates how we are leading the way in supporting talented athletes in education in England.

The Sport England-backed programme supports young sportspeople on the talent pathway to gain qualifications alongside their sporting pursuits, follow other interests and further their personal development.

TASS Dual Career Accreditation aims to help athletes to reach their potential in education alongside achieving success in their sport. Dual Career Accredited Sites provide academic flexibility and support to talented athletes who are balancing training schedules with their studies.

This support includes physiotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle support, psychology, strength and conditioning and a private medical scheme. This practical dual career support brings together all parties who work with the athlete.

With this accreditation, we have joined the network of education providers that already partner with TASS, delivering core support services to more than 1,000 student athletes each year.

In becoming a TASS Dual Career Accreditation Site, we hope to attract a greater number of talented athletes to our student body – and facilitate connections with other local sporting institutions.

Simon Jordan, Principal and CEO of Oldham College, said: “We’re proud to have been recognised as a TASS Dual Career Accredited Site.

“The Oldham College community is home to many talented athletes across a range of sports and subject areas. This accreditation will be key in empowering these learners to achieve their full academic and athletic potential during their time with us and preparing them for a successful future.

“We look forward to working together with TASS UK and are excited to nurture the next generation of sporting stars.”

TASS National Director, Guy Taylor, said: “Dual career support is at the forefront of what TASS does and that’s why the Accreditation Scheme is so important for us in recognising those institutions who place precedence on their athletes’ education too.

“We hope that the academic flexibility policies put into place for the Accreditation will begin to develop an effective and lasting dual career structure within each institution.”
