Medals galore at GMC Skills Competitions

Oldham College learners showcased their talents at the recent Greater Manchester Colleges Skills Competitions.

We hosted some of the contests at our Construction Centre earlier this month (13th March), and were also delighted to welcome Paula Ackers, Industry Skills Intelligence Officer from GMCA Work and Skills, who visited competitions taking place across our facilities.

Learners impressed on that day by picking up five medals across the contests: for Electrical Level 2 and 3 (one second and two third places), plus Level 3 Carpentry and Joinery (third) and Brickwork Level 2 (third).

This continued with a strong showing by our learners at colleges across the region, which has seen us earn 14 medals to date.

Highlights included a first place in the Creative Media competition at Bury College, and a first place win in the Level 2 Beauty competition at Wigan & Leigh College.

Last week our Level 2 and 3 Travel learners were pipped into second place in competitions at Hopwood Hall, where our Enterprise team also finished third.

We await the results of yesterdays Foundation Learning contests at Trafford College before this years competitions finish when our Sport and Public Services students visit Bolton College on Friday.
