Course Details

What Will I Study?

Public Services Level 1 Diploma NCFE - Full Time (1 year)

Entry requirements: 3x GCSE at grades E/2-3 (including English and Maths).

The course provides a broad outlook on:

  • Team building
  • Introduction into the Public Services
  • Investigating employment opportunities in the Uniformed Public Services (UPS)
  • Working as a volunteer
  • Improving fitness levels 
  • Developing self-discipline
  • Health and safety in the UPS
  • Outdoor adventurous activities
  • Guaranteed Public Services work experience.

Public Services uniform is to be worn while on campus - details will be provided on enrolment. Your fitness must be of a required standard and will be continuously monitored and tested.

 

Public Services - Level 2 Diploma NCFE - Full Time (1 Year)

Entry requirements: 4x GCSE grade D/3 (including English and Maths).

The course provides a broad outlook on:

  • Employment in the Uniformed Public Services (UPS)
  • Developing physical fitness
  • Health and safety in the UPS
  • Health and Hygiene in the UPS
  • UPS routines
  • Exploring equality and diversity in the UPS
  • Adventurous activities
  • Working as a volunteer
  • Guaranteed Public Service work experience

Public Services - Level 3 Extended Diploma NCFE - Full Time (2 Years)

Entry requirements: 4x GCSE grades A-C/4-9 (including English and Maths).

The course provides a broad outlook on:

  • Careers in the Uniformed Public Services (UPS) 
  • Developing physical fitness for entry into the UPS
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Equality and diversity
  • Mental and physical wellbeing
  • Sports coaching
  • Outdoor adventurous expeditions
  • Understanding discipline in the UPS
  • Working as a volunteer

What could this course lead to?

This is a course for people who are interested in a career in one of the Public Services. The course particularly focuses on getting you physically and mentally prepared for entry into the Police, Fire Service, Prison Service, volunteering and the Armed Forces. The course will suit anyone of a practical nature who wants a vocational alternative and is interested in public services, fitness and practical skills.

Please note that for the Ambulance Service we would recommend enrolling on Health and Social Level 3 course, as you will need this qualification to be accepted onto initial training within the Ambulance Service.
