MA Education (Teaching and Learning)

Year 1 Modules 

Exploring Teaching & Learning (30) You will undertake a critical analysis of the concepts of curriculum and teacher professionalism within society. There will be consideration of what makes effective teaching and learning using relevant educational research 

Mentoring & Coaching (30) You will explore the role of mentoring and coaching via a critical analysis of the use of mentoring and coaching programmes as a personal and development intervention and examine issues linked to implementing and managing mentoring/coaching schemes, the role of mentors and/or coaches, the strategies that could be used within a mentoring and/or coaching session and the ethical issues governing them. 

Methods of Enquiry (30) This module develops and deepens your knowledge and understanding of research methods, it considers some of the theories, methods and implication of research and the complex role of researchers. 

Year 2 Modules 

Special Educational Needs & Disability (30) You will study changing cultural and historical attitudes to disability including, for example, medical intervention from the early part of the 20th century and more recent social changes including the disability rights, human rights and equality, and models of health and disability. 

Dissertation (60) This module will help you design and develop a piece of individual research into a current work-related or contemporary issue or problem that is related to your area of your route specialism.
