Creative Arts, Design and Media
Fashion & Textiles Level 3
Course Details
What Will I Study?
Design it, make it, wear it. On our Fashion & Textiles pathway you'll learn to design, pattern-cut, construct and finish garments using industrial and specialist sewing machines. You'll experiment with print, dye, stitch, knitting, weaving, embellishment and machine embroidery to create your own fabrics, and sharpen your fashion illustration through life drawing, observation and digital drawing. By the end you'll have a portfolio of original designs and finished pieces.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Continuous assessment across each project. For every project you keep a sketchbook of research and experiments that leads to a final piece, which is assessed through a presentation and exhibition. Feedback is recorded on the college's digital assessment platform and one-to-one tutorials review your progress and set stretching targets. Your final grade comes from your Final Major Project (FMP): an exhibition piece of your own choosing, assessed by tutors and peers and externally moderated.
