Level 3 T Level Software Development
If you want to develop a career as a software developer designing, testing and producing, or you want to be a tech entrepreneur, then enrol on this new generation of Gold Standard qualifications as a technical alternative to A Levels.
The rise in technology has brought with it a range of digital jobs, meaning that there are lots of opportunities to climb the career ladder quickly and work for some exciting companies along the way. T Levels are developed by: the Institute of Apprenticeships and Technical Education; employers such as Fujitsu, IBM and Cap Gemini; and the Department for Education. This T Level is aimed to get you work ready for a career in Digital.
On this two-year course, you will work alongside professionals to prepare you for a career in Software Development, Computer Programming, Software Testing, Games Development, Web Development or Database Development & Administration. You will complete:

- Digital production design and development specialist skills and knowledge
- an industry placement with an employer lasting at least 45 days
- a minimum standard in Maths and English.
You’ll study a range of core and specialist units focused on digital production, design, and development, all taught in our modern computer labs, agile workshop spaces and dedicated computing workshops.
Included in these units are digital business, data management, digital analysis, digital environments, legislation, planning, security and testing.
The units are taught through practical project work, classroom workshops and an industry placement with a digital company of at least 45 days across the two years. This combination of learning ensures that you have a rich technical knowledge and accelerates your ability to apply your learning in the workplace, becoming part of a team of digital experts.
Included within your course will be masterclasses with industry experts, visits to businesses and your own industry mentor to help develop your career.
If you are keen to progress onto our Software Development course but haven’t quite got the grades, or if you need that little bit longer to develop your skills and knowledge before making the step to a T Level, then completing a Level 2 year could be the solution for you.
The Digital Skills and IT Level 2 course year is specifically designed to develop your skills, experience, knowledge and behaviours to support progression onto T Level. It is aimed at those learners who are not quite ready to start a T Level, but have the potential to progress onto one.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Your knowledge, skills and understanding will be assessed through an externally set exam, an employer set project covering the core units and a project including:
