Course Details

What Will I Study?

T Level Cyber Security is for you if you're interested in how networks, data and systems are kept safe from attack, and you want a qualification built around real technical skill. This two-year T Level is equivalent to three A Levels and combines classroom learning with hands-on technical training. You'll cover core digital knowledge — networks, data, legislation and how organisations use technology — before specialising in cyber security topics including network security, security operations, threat detection, encryption and vulnerability testing, using the same tools and concepts security professionals use day to day.

You'll build practical skills in a dedicated digital environment, working through realistic scenarios such as identifying vulnerabilities, responding to security incidents and securing a network — developing the problem-solving mindset the industry looks for, alongside solid technical knowledge.

Industry placement

Every T Level includes a substantial industry placement of at least 45 days with an employer, so you'll spend real time working in a professional cyber security or IT environment, not just hearing about one. We co-design parts of the course with industry specialists, and you'll also complete an employer-set project, giving you genuine experience of professional expectations, workplace behaviours and how security teams actually operate — building the confidence, experience and relevant portfolio that support your next step.

You'll leave with a nationally recognised technical qualification, real workplace experience and a strong foundation for further study, an apprenticeship, or entry into a cyber security role.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Assessment of your knowledge, skills and understanding will be through an externally set exam (two papers), a specialist and employer set project that covers the core units, and a project which will include:

Internally assessed projects
Presentations
Practical assessments
Building a portfolio.

Collaborative learning means you will work with your peers to problem solve, design, implement and test networks and security systems in our purpose-built labs, agile workshop and classrooms. You will also sit an occupational specialist practical exam in the second year.

You will also need to successfully complete a 45 day placement in a relevant business or organisation as part of the T Level.
