Construction Skills Carpentry & Joinery Level 1

Develop practical skills related to Carpentry. Discover your future.

Throughout the course, you will develop practical carpentry skills while learning how to work safely and effectively in a workshop environment.

While on the course you will develop skills in Carpentry and Joinery and Health and safety in construction.

Practical activities will include construction of basic timber joints, reading drawings and finishing the timber work to a high level. While developing your confidence, accuracy and ability to work safely.

This practical course gives you the opportunity to experience a range of construction activities, develop essential hands-on skills and gain an understanding of the construction industry. It can help you discover the trade you enjoy most while building the skills, confidence and knowledge needed for your next step.

Assessment takes place throughout the course and is designed to demonstrate the practical skills and knowledge you develop. You will be assessed through practical and written tasks. This could include completing practical construction activities in the workshop and answering questions to demonstrate your understanding of the work you have carried out. Your tutors will observe your practical work and provide regular feedback to help you improve your skills and achieve the required standard. The qualification is graded Pass or Fail, so the focus is on demonstrating that you can complete the required tasks safely and successfully.

No formal qualification, but we are looking for students who enjoy practical, hands-on activities, are willing to try different construction trades, can follow instructions and work safely.
