These qualifications build foundations in administrative, customer service, and management practices for apprentices. At all levels, apprentices will undertake a variety of units within the qualification, some theory-based, but the majority competency-based.

At Level 2, units include: communication in a business environment, principles of providing administrative services, understanding employer organisations, and developing working relationships with colleagues, to name a few.

At Level 3, units include: managing personal and professional development, principles of business, principles of administration, principles of business communication and information, and managing and delivering presentations, to name a few.

Level 3 reflects the skills and knowledge required of those in an administrative role with accountability.

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification; however, an initial assessment will take place to ensure the apprentice is capable of reaching the required standards.

At Level 5, apprentices will be expected to create and deliver operational plans, manage projects, lead and manage teams, manage change, demonstrate financial and resource management, and provide coaching and mentoring.

At this level, entry requirements are occupational (workplace) competence and a minimum of GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in maths and English.

How Will I Be Assessed?

These qualifications are delivered both on and off the job. Apprentices spend four days per week in the workplace and one day per week at college.

At both levels, apprentices will be assessed throughout the apprenticeship in the workplace by a variety of methods, including observation, professional discussion, reflective accounts, product evidence, and questions and answers.

At college, apprentices will be taught theory, which is then tested via a number of online exams. At Levels 2 and 3, there are three mandatory exams to be passed. These exams are multiple choice and cover topics in communication, business operations, and administrative practices.

At Level 5, apprenticeship delivery is on and off the job, with four days in the workplace and one day per week in college.

Management theory and knowledge will be delivered in the classroom and then tested via exam board assignments. In the workplace, assessment will be completed throughout the course by an industry specialist, with current, up-to-date knowledge, through a variety of professional discussions, product evidence, assignments, and reflective accounts.
