Course Details
What Will I Study?
Oldham College offers the Intermediate Level 2 and Level 3 Advanced apprenticeship in Trowel Occupations.
At Level 2, you will attend college one day a week for two years and be taught by highly qualified, dedicated vocational staff in our specialist facilities. At Level 3, you will attend college one day a week for approximately 13 months.
The qualification is a mix of practical hands-on work, interactive theory classroom activities, and on-site evidence. Learners will study basic hand skills to interpret working drawings, build solid walling, isolated walling, and attached piers. They will also be taught health and safety.
Entry requirements: grade E/Level 3 or above in English and maths. You will complete Functional Skills in English and maths at Level 1 and/or Level 2 depending on your GCSEs.
How Will I Be Assessed?
You will be taught by specialists in our up-to-date training facilities and supported and observed in the workplace by qualified assessors with a wealth of expertise in the industry.
You will attend college one day per week to learn the knowledge required to do your job and develop your skills. There are a number of exams at both Level 2 and Level 3.
The NVQ Diploma is achieved through the creation of a site diary, including workshop evidence, and is supported by on-site assessments.
What could this apprenticeship lead to?
On completion of Level 2, you will receive an Intermediate apprenticeship in Trowel Occupations, made up of the Level 2 Diploma and the Level 2 NVQ Diploma, and you could progress onto the Level 3 programme.
Completion at Level 3 will give you an Advanced apprenticeship in Trowel Occupations, and you could progress onto an HNC at Level 4 or a Higher National Diploma at Level 5.
Bricklaying and craft masonry offer a wide range of opportunities that apprentices can be involved in as part of a structured career path, such as new builds and refurbishments.
