Beauty Level 1

All new learners interested in Beauty can begin on Level 1 if you need to gain English and maths qualifications.

At Level 1 you will explore both theory and practical skills, including:

• Applying make-up and creating images
• Promoting products and services
• Client care and health and safety
• Facial treatments, manicures and pedicures.
• Reception and salon duties
• Teamwork and communication
• Computer skills such as creating PowerPoint presentations.

Throughout your Level 1 Beauty Therapy course, you will complete different types of assessment to show your knowledge, practical skills and professional behaviours.

Your tutor will support you to learn, practise and receive feedback throughout your course.

Your progress will be tracked formative and summative assessments. These include

For learners completing a Level 1 Beauty Therapy programme, the main progression route would normally be into a suitable Level 2 vocational programme, depending on achievement, attendance, behaviour, practical readiness and their career interests.

• Level 2 Beauty Therapy – developing skills such as facial skincare, manicure/pedicure, make-up, waxing and eye treatments 
• Level 2 Nail Services - for learners interested in nail enhancements, developing salon ready nail services such as Luxury Manicure/Pedicure, Nail Art and Nail Enhancements 
• Level 2 Hairdressing – for learners who discover an interest in cutting, styling, colouring and the hair industry
• Level 2 Barbering – for learners interested in men's hair, cutting, styling and barbering
• Level 2 Hair & Make-up – where available, providing a broader route combining hair styling and make-up skills.
