What course did you study at Oldham College? Level 3 Electrical apprenticeship

Cameron chose an apprenticeship to earn a wage while learning in a real-world work environment – and hopes to use the skills to further progress in his career.

“I chose an apprenticeship over other options as I wanted to earn money whilst I was learning,” Cameron says. “I originally got a job in Mechanical Engineering after my GCSEs, but while I was there I discovered I had an interest in Electrical Engineering – so I started on this apprenticeship.

“I work for Eagley Plastics, mainly focusing on maintenance and extruding.

“I have a really great relationship with both my employer and my tutor: they’re incredibly helpful, understanding and a great resource. I’ve also built confidence and made a lot of friends on this course.”

As for Cameron’s future plans, he says: “I hope to stay with the company and gain more experience and develop my skills even further. In the future I would love to progress further in my career.”
