Project Launch: Five for Five

The Future of Caring Professions Project. Employers: Support your local health and social care college students

Oldham College are launching a brand-new five-week intensive work experience initiative aimed at future-proofing our local health and social care provision.

We’re asking employers within the caring professions industry to get involved and provide a work experience placement for 5 students over 5 weeks. That’s 1 student per week for 5 weeks.

This means that just ten employers would provide work experience placements for a massive fifty students. This would have a huge impact within the Oldham College community by supporting learners, but also provides those students with amazing workplace experiences and real-world knowledge to take forward into the local Health and Social Care sector.

“Work placements play a crucial role in the college experience, especially for career paths that rely on those invaluable practical skills.

“Providing just 5 short-and-sharp opportunities will have a ripple effect on the future local skills gap that cannot be underestimated, as well as helping the individual learner.

“It’s with this in mind that Oldham College are reaching out and asking for employers to get in touch as soon as possible if they would like to be part of Five for Five: The Future of Caring professions project.”

Jess Criswell, Vice Principal for 16-19 & Adult Programmes
