2022 Awards | T Level learners in the spotlight

OUR FIRST and second year T-Level learners have celebrated their achievements at a special event.

The cohort assembled yesterday and were encouraged by Jess Criswell, Vice Principal for Curriculum Teaching & Learning, to constantly be exploring and discussing their next steps – and making sure they’re targeting the right occupation.

Joe Davis sharing his T Level experiences

Incentive awards of £100 were given to all learners who met the required attendance and attainment levels this term – alongside recognition awards for the Most Promising Students (Year 1) and Top Students (Year 2).

Joe Davis, a Year 2 Construction learner, spoke confidently about his T Levels journey which has just seen him secure a position as a Telecommunications Engineer with Network Rail upon completion of his studies next year.

While studying at Oldham College, he has enjoyed placements with Willmott Dixon on projects at the Royal Oldham Hospital and the construction of the new Brian Clarke Academy opposite our campus.

He has also worked with Kier Group on delivering the expansion of the North Chadderton secondary school with new learning environments.

Joe said: “I am very proud to become a productive member of society and find a job that I can enjoy.”

“If I was asked if I would recommend doing a T Level – and a placement like I have had with Kier Group – I would say ‘absolutely’.”

Learners also heard from Kevin Mullin from Kier Group, who shared his experience of working with T Level learners – including Joe – and the benefits to learners of studying T Levels when looking towards their future careers.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone celebrated at this event – we are proud of your achievements this year!
