Creative Arts, Design and Media
Content Creation and Production T Level
Course Details
What Will I Study?
Want to make content for TV, film, radio and social media? On this two-year T Level you'll work like a real production team, pitching and producing content for real client briefs – from social media and websites to live and recorded broadcasts. You'll get hands-on with industry kit, including our very own OC Radio station and podcast studio, run productions from first idea to final edit, and learn the technical skills behind the camera and in the studio, plus how to keep a live production safe. An industry placement lets you test your skills in the real world before you even finish the course.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Year 1 covers the core content (externally set exam and employer-set project). Year 2 focuses on the occupational specialism and ends with a ten-week assessment window of linked tasks, in which you respond to a brief with research, development and reflection on industry practitioners to create your own media outcomes. A successful industry placement of 45 days is also required.
What Could This Course Lead To?
Jobs in front of or behind the camera, such as Camera Operator, Production Assistant, Runner, Editor, Sound Technician, Content Creator or Social Media Producer, as well as roles in marketing and advertising; a media apprenticeship; related degrees; or higher technical qualifications. The creative industries are one of the UK's fastest-growing sectors, with key creative jobs projected to grow by 416,000 (27%) between 2025 and 2035 (Skills England, 2026). Greater Manchester is one of the UK's biggest media hubs outside London, with the BBC and ITV based at MediaCity in Salford.
