What will I Study?

Mental Health First Aid England training gives you the knowledge and skills to spot the signs of a person experiencing poor mental health, the confidence to start a conversation, and the tools to signpost to appropriate support. Better understanding of mental health and less stigma ripples out into communities, with the potential to improve and save lives. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an evidence-based training program designed to teach participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health or substance use challenges until professional help is available.

You’ll learn practical, real-life skills to

  • Notice when someone might be struggling

  • Start a safe, supportive conversation

  • Use helpful language

  • Understand common mental health challenges

  • Know what to do, where to go, and who can help

  • Look after your own wellbeing so you can support others safely

By the end of this course, you won’t just understand mental health, you’ll be able to put your skills into action, support people who need it, and look after your own wellbeing with confidence

How Will I Be Assessed?

There is no assessment for this course; you just take part, learn the skills, and build your confidence without any tests or exams.

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course; you don’t need any prior knowledge of mental health to join, learn, and make a real difference.

This course runs over 2 days - Monday and Wednesday, 9am–5pm on an ad hoc basis
