Celebrating success on GCSE Results Day

We enjoyed celebrating our brilliant GCSE learners at a special event on campus on Results Day (Thursday 20th August). 

Learners collected their results and shared their successes with their friends, families and our staff. 

On the day, we heard many inspiring stories of how these GCSE results have helped our learners take the next step in their journeys – whether that’s to progress with us, or move onto further study or employment. 

Yousra, who is currently the FE Student Governor at Oldham College, achieved a 6 in maths. In September, she will begin a T Level course in Surveying and Design Construction, having previously completed qualifications in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages). Her career ambition is to become an architect. 

Demi-Leigh, who is studying BA (Hons) Education and Early Years at our higher education provision University Campus Oldham, was delighted to have passed her maths qualification. She said: “It feels absolutely amazing to have passed! To finally get this result is just incredible and I can’t believe it.” 

For many learners, today’s grades have helped them to reach the next stage of their career journey beyond Oldham College and University Campus Oldham. 

William, who achieved a 7 in English language, can now progress to university with the future ambition to complete a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification. 

“It’s a huge step, so I’m very happy,” he says. 

Paria achieved an 8 in maths and will also be progressing to university. She has offers to study either Physiotherapy or Pharmacy. 

“I’ve always liked maths, and my tutor Kath has been so supportive,” she says. “I feel lucky to have had a really good teacher and classmates.” 

Well done to all our learners who received results yesterday, we are incredibly proud of your achievements.
