Two Oldham College T Level Digital Infrastructure students, Jago Grayson and Jake Wilkinson, have been awarded the prestigious CyberFirst MEGA Scholarship, each receiving a £1,000 bursary to support their future careers in cyber security.
Run by IN4 Group, the MEGA (Motivated, Educated, Generation with Ambition) Scholarship, sponsored by CyberFirst, supports talented college, sixth form and Level 4 students by providing financial support, industry-recognised cyber security and cloud certifications, professional mentoring and valuable industry experience.
As part of the programme, Jago and Jake had the opportunity to meet industry leaders from across Greater Manchester, take part in interview and employability workshops, visit leading employers such as BT and participate in hackathons designed to develop their technical and problem-solving skills.
The scholarship also offers access to professional qualifications from organisations including Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, alongside networking opportunities and guidance to help students progress into degree apprenticeships, university or directly into careers in cyber security.
Speaking about receiving the scholarship, Jago said:
“I was so happy to hear that I had got on. The scholarship has given me interview preparation and the chance to visit the BT offices. It’s also given me connections and know-how for interviews.”
Jago will be progressing to Manchester Metropolitan University to study Cyber Security and believes the scholarship has given him an excellent foundation for the future.
Congratulations to Jago and Jake on this fantastic achievement. We wish them every success as they continue their journey into the exciting and fast-growing world of cyber security.
