What Will I Study?
The Design Apprenticeship is a fantastic way to take your first steps into the fast-paced and exciting world that is the creative industry.
Enhance your CV and gain valuable work experience as you work alongside professionals and experts in your chosen field. You will also gain a recognised qualification in Design, attending College on a day-release basis. The apprenticeship will give you good knowledge of the things you will come across in your job role, and help you to develop new skills and grow as an individual designer.
You will develop skills in a range of areas, including:
- Identifying and understanding a client’s brand strategy
- Concepts and techniques used in branding
- Writing and interpreting client design briefs
- Creating digital designs to a specific brief
- Research skills
- Working to deadlines
- Understanding market research
- Working collaboratively in a creative process
- Articulating, presenting and debating ideas in a creative environment
- Presentation skills
- Time management.
How Will I Be Assessed?
Assessment is ongoing throughout the Apprenticeship. You will create a portfolio of work, both in college and the workplace, which will be used as evidence towards your qualification.
You can be assessed in a number of ways, including:
- producing written documents or products
- observations, witness statements
- photographic and professional discussions.
What could this apprenticeship lead to?
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will likely be offered full-time employment by your employer. Employers spend time and effort supporting and developing you to enhance their business, and they value you as a member of the team.
Alternatively, you could move on to a different employer and job role to experience different environments. Your employer will give you a good reference and you will have 18 months of work experience on your CV to show your new employer.
Another option is to go on to university and get a degree in your chosen specialism.
