University Level Support

UCO Support Services

At University Campus Oldham, we're here to support you throughout your studies.

Whether you need help with your academic work, wellbeing, disability support or planning your next steps after graduation, you'll have access to a range of services to help you succeed throughout your studies.

Academic Support

The Academic Success Centre is here to help you develop the skills you’ll need for university-level study.

Whether you’re writing your first assignment, preparing for exams or completing your dissertation, Academic Development Lecturers offer workshops and one-to-one sessions to help you every step of the way.

Support is available for academic writing, referencing, finding and using academic sources, planning and structuring assignments, research skills, study skills, time management, presentation skills, and revision and exam preparation.

Workshops run throughout the year, including sessions on essay writing, dissertations, referencing and revision techniques.

Disability Support Services

If you have a disability, additional learning need, mental health condition or long-term health condition, we’ll work with you to make sure the right support is in place from the start of your course.

After discussing your individual needs, we’ll agree any reasonable adjustments to help you access your course, take part in student life and achieve your potential.

Support may include:

  • A Learning Support Plan tailored to your needs
  • Exam adjustments, including extra time where appropriate
  • One-to-one specialist support
  • Dyslexia and visual stress screening
  • Additional tutorials where needed
  • Library support, including extended book loans
  • Counselling and wellbeing assessments to help identify any support you may need during your studies
  • Guidance with applying for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).

If you’re eligible for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), we can also guide you through the application process, helping you apply for funding for specialist equipment, mentoring or study skills support.

If you’re unsure what support you may need, please get in touch. We’ll be happy to talk through your options.
