200+ boxes collected for shoebox appeal

A large group of people stand in front of a pile of wrapped presents.

We have collected an amazing 220 shoeboxes filled with toiletries, stationery and toys to donate to those less fortunate this Christmas.

More than 500 learners from across college have been involved, helping to exceed the initial goal of 150 boxes!

The core members of the college’s Community Payback group have been the driving force behind this project. Well done to the core members of this group, learners Luisa, Ella, Milli, Summer, Mia and Lucy for all their hard work with wrapping boxes, adding labels and writing personal messages to accompany the gifts.

Milli shared a reflection on the experience: “As we gathered each gift, I kept thinking of the person who usually has nothing to open on Christmas morning. Every setback, every little challenge, felt worth it, because this year they won’t just receive a box, they’ll receive a moment of feeling valued and remembered.”

The shoeboxes have now been sent to Teams4U, the non-profit organisation which runs this appeal, and will be distributed to children in Eastern Europe.
