The Construction Faculty – soon to boast a new £9m Construction Centre teaching the building and trade skills of the future – is THE place to get on the fast-track to success.
Our Construction courses offer all the knowledge, experience and skills you need to pursue a technical or professional career with expert tutors guiding you through hands-on work placements and classroom teaching showing you the tricks of the trade. Courses and Apprenticeships include; Brickwork, Construction Management, Property Maintenance, Painting and Decorating, Carpentry and Joinery
Our Plumbing and Electrical courses – from Level 1-3 and apprenticeships – offer the qualifications and skills you need in well-paid, rewarding industries that are full of variety. You could install a heating system or wire a home – or even work with ground-breaking technologies on huge projects. Our industry tutors teach the essential elements of your trade, putting knowledge into practice through workshops and work experience. You’ll also learn Health and Safety processes, drawing techniques, installations and regulations.
Our Motor Vehicle Faculty will give you the tools needed for this career by preparing you for a range of garage, shop-floor and automotive engineering roles. Our Car Mechanic courses offer outstanding grounding in this sector using well-equipped workshops that exceed industry standards. You’ll learn everything from Health and Safety to engineering equipment and automobile electronics through a mix of theory, practical and project work – all ensuring the highest safety, environmental and sustainability standards.

An Oldham College student is not just one of the first nationally to complete a new City and Guilds qualification – he also passed the endpoint assessment with a score of 98 per cent on his first attempt.
Mike Smith arrived at Oldham College as an adult learner, and was one of the early signups to the new City and Guilds 5357-93 Level 3 Electro-technical Diploma (Installation).
He became the college’s first completer, was also one of the first in the UK to complete the diploma and was then entered for the 2.5-day endpoint assessment (AM2S).
