The Property Maintenance standard is a Level 2 qualification, it is delivered in house in our specialist facilities and in the workplace by highly qualified vocational staff. The qualification is a mix of practical hands on work, interactive theory classroom activities and on site evidence. Learners will study various practical maintenance techniques towards Plumbing, Electrical, Painting, Tiling and Carpentry and be taught health and safety, sustainability and customer service amongst other things.
You will normally have English and Maths at Grade 2/E or above or be capable of achieving at least Level 1 Functional Skills in both, our specialist tutors will work with you to achieve this.
Alongside the work that you do in college you will be assessed in the workplace and build up an NVQ portfolio which supports work towards your technical certificate. Learners also complete their English and Maths if required and use Moodle our online learning platform and IT.
Once you are assessed as being competent you will be put forward for the externally assessed end tests which consist of a knowledge and practical assessment and an interview.
Successful completion will mean you have an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Property Maintenance. Progression from this course could be onto the level 3 programme.
Employment opportunities are wide and varied and may include Maintenance Assistant, Property Engineer, Facilities Assistant, Caretaker, Janitor.
