A Traineeship is a professional work skills programme with quality work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people, who are looking to move into an apprenticeship. The Traineeship prepares young people for their future careers by helping them to develop professionally and become work ready.
Essential work preparation
Designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 who don’t yet have the appropriate work skills or experience. Traineeships are the essential work preparation solution, which equips learners with an employer specific skills set to secure an apprenticeship and ensure the trainee is ready for work. Included is Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths and a minimum of 100 hours work experience.
Short & intense
Traineeships are fast track, short, intense, sector specific training programmes, which include quality work placements and employability preparation. They run for 8, 14, or 16 weeks dependent on the sector. They can be completed after a full time course, or as an alternative to full time study where entry criteria is met, before moving onto apprenticeships to gain work experience.
Traineeships are not full time courses so there are no exams, no coursework or assessments but they do offer an employability certificate of achievement. They do not offer a sector specific qualification on completion.
All potential learners must fit the entry criteria below:
Must be aged 16-24 only
Minimum of 4 GCSE’s at Grade D including a 3 in both Maths and English or Vocational Subject Level 1 plus GCSE grade D/3 in both Maths and English.
Maths & English Functional Skills Level 1 will be accepted as an alternative to GCSE’s
Guroo test in Maths, English, ICT, will need to be taken at interview.
Learners must already have a L2 Subject Specific Qualification if interested in Digital and Creative.
Not hold a qualification higher than a level 2.
Not be in employment or full time education.
Be motivated to progress onto an apprenticeship.
Be motivated to learn new skills, have little or no work experience.
Commit to the full Traineeship Programme which includes a minimum of 100 hours work placement.
Interview with Traineeship co-ordinator and Sector Staff.
Failure to complete the programme or poor attendance will result in learner not progressing onto an apprenticeship
