Oldham College is hosting a series of events to mark National Apprenticeships Week (NAW) for 2020 (February 3-7).
The 13th annual NAW is a celebration of apprenticeships across England and highlights apprenticeship success stories around the country.
This year #NAW2020 encourages us to ‘Look Beyond’ outdated stereotypes and bring apprentices, parents and teachers together to fire up a new conversation around apprenticeships.
Throughout the week we’ll be hosting taster sessions and demonstrations across campus to showcase the great work our apprentices are doing in: Caring Professions, Construction, Digital, Creative, Horticulture & Manufacturing, Business & Professional and Hair & Beauty.
Events taking place include a spa day in SALON7 with bookable treatments (Tues 1-6:30pm), competitions for current Construction apprentices to demonstrate their skills (Mon-Thurs), a horticulture community event at Alexandra Park (Tues) and more.
We’ll also be visited by several guest speakers, including employers and current apprentices, who will be sharing their experiences and discussing the importance of career progression opportunities.
And we’re inviting our learners to meet our recruitment team at daily Job Shop drop-in sessions from Monday to Thursday (2-4pm).
Our Apprenticeship Week schedule finishes on Friday in Speakers Corner with our employer networking and awards event.
This will be hosted by our special guest Angela Rayner MP, who is currently the Shadow Secretary of State for Education and leading the race to become the new Deputy Leader of the Labour Party. There is also a networking lunch opportunity beforehand for employers.
