Shine a Light Day Nursery is a Private Day nursery that provides a caring, stimulating, fun, learning environment to meet children's educational and social needs. We aim to provide a happy, relaxed day care provision that will encourage your child to explore and experiment in order to fully attain their early learning goals. Our staff are qualified & experienced nursery nurses who undergo regular training to keep them up-to-date with all aspects of childcare and are committed to providing a well balanced curriculum which respects all children's individual requirements.

Overview of the role (what will the learner be doing and what will the learner gain):

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to complete their Apprenticeship Standard - Early Years Practitioner. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate. You will work as part of a team, to provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment which encourages children to learn.

You will assist the key worker for a specified number of children and take part in the day-to-day responsibility for the care, well-being, monitoring of that group, helping to keep up to date records and writing observations as necessary

You will assist staff and contribute effectively to the development and implementation of the Foundation Stage.

Training to be provided (Qualifications to be gained):

L2 Diploma in Early years Practitioner
Functional Skills English Level 1
Functional Skills Maths Level 1

Vacancy description:

To contribute to maintaining effective health, safety and child protection procedures

To provide high standards of childcare and education, to include the monitoring and implementation of children痴 development, includes providing a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.

Help with a high standard of personal care including, dressing, feeding and washing children

To help provide a safe, interesting and stimulating environment

Good communication skills required as you will be part of a team and may have to speak with parents

To undertake and commit to training towards the achievement of a formal qualification

Desired qualifications Maths and English grade 9-3(A-D) or equivalent

Things to consider (optional)

You will be expected to be flexible with the working hours to ensure ratios are maintained. During the year you will be expected to participate in additional events out of the normal working hours, for example, parent痴 evening and open days.

There is a degree of lifting and carrying that you will need to be able to carry out.

This nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

You will be required undertake an enhanced DBS.
