We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to work alongside the dentist. Duties will include assisting in the provision and delivery of dental care to patients, reception duties and decontamination/sterilising in the surgery.
1.0 In the surgery
1.1 Seek to provide optimum dental care.
1.2 Be aware at all times of the person coming to you for
care and try to enhance their wellbeing.
1.3 Ensure that the dental surgery operates efficiently, is fully
stocked and equipped, and that the operating environment
for the dentist is as efficient as possible.
1.4 Help provide a comfortable, attractive, clean and uncluttered
environment for the patients.
1.5 Maintain correct uniform and a professional manner and
1.6 Deal competently and safely with hazardous or toxic waste or materials.
1.7 Be flexible with hours of work in case of a dental emergency.
1.8 Be responsible for the maintenance of equipment.
1.9 Process and file x-rays.
1.10 Ensure cross infection control is maintained.
1.11 Check and change x-ray processing machines.
1.12 Monitor autoclaves daily using test strips.
1.13 Clean suction tubes and check drain.
1.14 Check day notes
1.15 Write up day notes if necessary.
1.16 Switch on/off compressor.
2.1 Greet patients at the door and escort to and from the surgery.
2.2 Make appointments for patients in person or on the telephone
For the dentist and hygienist.
2.3 Be able to communicate comfortably and effectively with patients about money and accept and record payments for treatment in the appropriate manner.

• Level 3 diploma in Dental nursing
