Early Years apprentice

Generic Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate initiative and get involved at all times
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in your care, and observe and follow the nursery’s health and safety policy and procedures at all times
• Maintain high standards of hygiene throughout the nursery
• Liaise with parents and carers, keeping them informed of activities undertaken and their child’s progress with these activities as well as the child’s general development
• Create a stimulating and exciting environment where opportunities for learning are recognised and exploited to the full
• Monitoring and evaluating the progress of children in the group, assisting in maintaining records as appropriate
• Support and encourage children to participate and learn from nursery activities
• Be sensitive and responsive to the needs of children, parents and other staff members
• Be aware of nursery policies and to assist in their implementation
• Take part in supervision sessions and recognise the benefit of supervision and appraisals as part of your continuing professional development
• To undertake training that is appropriate to the post as identified in the staff development plan
• To undertake any other duties in the nursery as reasonable requested by the nursery manager

Person Specification: Essential
• A – C Grades in both English and maths or equivalent preferable
• A DBS check will be applied for if successfully appointed
