Students hone their language skills at leading Oldham coffee shop
College students have been able to improve their practical English language skills as well as develop their employability due to a parrhership with Oldham's leading coffee house.
The tie - up has seen over 40 ESOL (English for Speakers of other Languages) students at Oldham College enjoy weekly placements at Rhode Island Coffee on Upper Mall in Oldham town centre.
The award winning company which has seven other outlets in the North West, prides itself on high quality food, lovingly crafted coffee, and a warm welcome for customers. As a result, it has built up a loyal following in the town.
The students undertook a range of duties from serving customers to keeping the premises clean and tidy. Matt Corbett, Head of Faculty of ESOL, Oldham College said "Rhode Island Coffee has been incredibly helpful and supportive. Our students have thoroughly enjoyed their work experience and have improved their spoken English as a result. Rhode Island are a fantastic company to work with."
Darryl Allen from Rhode Island Coffee said "We have been very pleased by the application and enthusiasm all the students have displayed.
