It’s better to spot the mistakes when you’re thinking it through than taking action that is wrong for you. Remember that it’s important to have a plan to get you started but it’s also important to keep yourself flexible and change it if that seems to be better.
Commitment means doing the thing you said you would do, long after the mood in which you said it has left you. Think about this carefully. It’s a really important thing to realise that energy and enthusiasm will not always last. The good thing is that commitment happens with action and when action gets results it increases commitment.
“ Set a new goal, something that will be even more
inspiring and something you can make immediate
progress towards. ” Tony Robbins
Going through this process with someone you trust, at least at the beginning, is better than doing it on your own. Someone asking questions to help make your thinking clear helps you a lot. You also can’t avoid the hard bits!! You will also often need the help of other people to make the changes you want.
Now is a good time to think who you would want to help you get there. If you are the person helping someone else go through the process, remember to listen well and don’t give advice. All you are able to do is ask questions to help them think clearly and in detail.
You can help keep yourself positive and on track along the way too. A good way is to keep a record of the things that have gone well and that have taken you nearer to what you want.
