Vocational Education: The Winning Recipe

Posted on: 18 December 2015

The awards keep coming for Oldham College students who have achieved yet another success after showing their enthusiasm and determination.

Hassan Iqbal and Daniel Arundel kicked off this latest winning spree last month when they lifted top honours in a prestigious business prize, The Edge Challenge. Junaid Ali, Isaac Spencer and Matthew Iberson then wowed B&Q with an advertising campaign pitch which the DIY company said was the best from any college.

In the North West College Enrichment Games last week our students ran away with 4th place in table tennis, a close 2nd in basketball and 1st place in dodgeball showing their sporting prowess.

Former Peter Jones Enterprise Academy students, Luke Astill-Boardman and Junaid Aurangzeb, have now been added to the roll call after having the winning pitch in a national Entrepreneurship competition netting them a £2500 investment from Brendan Flood, the Chairman of Burnley FC. The pair own LJ Creatives Marketing Advertising agency and gained the investment for their new Corporate Football Magazine.

Our vocational education difference is a unique mix:

  • Curriculum designed with businesses and focused on growth areas of the Oldham and Greater Manchester economy
  • Students taught by industry experienced teachers
  • Placement opportunities
  • Informal enrichment activities - the informal curriculum
The result is high achieving, well rounded young adults, ready to make their mark in their chosen career.
