Oldham College drives 347 students to higher education
Oldham College has announced a 9 per cent rise in the number of students that have gone on to study at University this September in comparison to last year. The figures from this year have risen by 3 per cent across the UK which has established an increase in the number of students being accepted on to higher education courses. In addition, a further 57 per cent of 2014/15 Oldham College graduates have continued on to further education.
A large proportion of students previously studied Digital and Creative subjects. Head of faculty, Jo Manship said “Our students gained places at prestigious Universities such as London College of Fashion, University of Art London and our regional Universities including Manchester University and University Campus Oldham. Students portfolio standard this year has been outstanding and enabled them to achieve their first choice places. IT students have achieved a record number of distinction stars which has enabled them to be accepted on to BSc courses that will automatically lead them to study at masters’ level.”
Art and Design graduate Demitria Chirou gained an incredible amount of skill in mixed media painting and enjoyed linking her ideas to the world of fashion. Her approach to ideas and concepts frequently left her tutors and fellow students impressed. Demi’s constant aspiration and hard work led to her being accepted by two Universities including Manchester Metropolitan University where she is currently studying Fashion Art Direction, a new course designed by the University.
Abdul Yussuff studied a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design. His tenacity in driving his work forward demonstrated real strength and determination to get the best from the course and he was always happy to embrace any challenge presented. Abdul decided to continue his education at Salford University on their BA Hons Visual Arts course.
