The Level 2, 3 and 4 certificates are hybrid qualifications, made up of competence and knowledge units. These units are delivered in the College and assessed in the workplace. From learning to carry out basic administrative tasks to gaining higher level support skills, qualifications in accounting can be tailored to meet your or your employer's specific needs.

With an AAT qualification on your CV you'll demonstrate to employers that you are committed, highly-skilled, motivated and ready for an array of accounting and finance roles.

Apprenticeships offer a powerful form of learning. Practical, technical and personal skills are gained through a mix of learning in the workplace, formal study with a training provider, and the chance to practice your new skills in a real world context.

Our professional accounting qualification will enable you to manage finances, budgets and cash flow effectively and play a key role in business growth through innovative teaching techniques. 

As a student of Oldham College you will have full use of all the college facilities

Level 2 (Certificate), 3 (Diploma) or 4 (Diploma in Accounting and Diploma in Business skills)
Functional Skills level 1 or 2 in English, Maths (unless already accredited) 

No Formal Entry Requirements

Unlike other qualifications there are no entry requirements with AAT and you don’t need relevant work experience. This means that our qualifications are ideal if you’re leaving school or college, returning to work or thinking of changing career.

Accounting apprenticeships are open to anyone who is 16 years old or older and are not in full-time education. 

If you are aged 16-23 the Skills Funding Agency will fund the cost of the training.
If you are aged 24+ an employer contribution would be required. 

Progression routes are available up to Level 4 AAT, after which progression routes are Chartered Accounting qualifications e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ATT or Accounting related Degree. 

The average salary for qualified Accounting technician is £25,000 - £28,000 varying with experience.

The average salary for a Chartered Accountant is £32,975 per year. A skill in financial analysis is associated with higher pay for this job.

All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
