The Level 3 Award in Education and Training has been designed to provide an introduction to teaching and learning for individuals who would like to work or currently work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities.  It can met the needs of a range of trainee teachers, such as individuals not currently teaching and want to develop new skills in the industry, individuals currently teaching and training and new to the profession and individuals currently working as assessors, who wish to achieve a qualification that provides an introduction to teaching.  This is an excellent starting point for a career in Education and Training.

The course is a 16 week programme and learners will need to complete three units to achieve the Level 3 Award: 

  • (H/505/0053) Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3 credits)
  • (D/505/0052) Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training (6 credits)
  • (D/601/5313) Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (3 credits)

Candidates are required to attend evening classes 5.30pm – 8.30pm

(H/505/0053) Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training – assessed via assignment

(D/505/0052) Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training – assessed via assignment and micro teach

(D/601/5313) Understanding the principles and practices of assessment – assessed via assignment or professional discussion 

Once completing the Level 3 Award in Education and Training you can progress onto the following courses: 

  • Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
  • Level 3 Assessing Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training has been designed to provide an introduction to teaching and learning for individuals who would like to work or currently work within FE Colleges, Independent Training Providers and/or Local Authorities.  Learners can also progress on to completing their assessor qualification.

However, learners must meet the necessary standards of English, Mathematics and Information and communication technology.

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
