For both functional skills and GCSE you will be assessed regularly in class through a variety of questions, quizzes, short tests and end of term assessments so that we can make sure you are progressing and provide the appropriate support to help you do so. In addition to this, your qualification is decided by a final exam. Functional Skills will be a pass / fail grade and GCSE is graded using the new numerical system of 9 - 1. Details of these exams are shown below:
You will complete one final exam covering all topics in the curriculum at the level you have been studying. You will have the option to complete your exam online (levels 1 and 2 only) or on paper.
You will be sitting 3 final exams in May / June, attendance to all 3 exams is compulsory to gain a grade. There is 1 non-calculator paper and 2 calculator papers. The decision to sit the higher or foundation tier will be made using your regular assessment results and progress in class.
