You will be assessed through practical assignments and live projects, for example performances, videos, portfolios, uploading projects to YouTube, competitions.

Are you interested in becoming a musician, composer, sound engineer, producer or teacher? If so, then the Music course at the Oldham College is for you. Our tutors have a wealth of industry experience, all working as musicians, producers or engineers, ensuring that you receive a first class, professional training. During your studies you will work in our specialist studios and professional theatre participating in regular skills and technique classes, gigs, master-classes, enrichment and competitions. As well as our on-site shows and workshops at the Grange Theatre, we respond to the needs of schools, community groups and Music employers, providing valuable work experience opportunities for all our students.

Study Programme


All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
