This course is particularly aimed at learners with a passion for football, wanting to enter employment in the sports and active leisure sector as coaches, instructors and leaders. It is ideal for those wishing to progress into higher education to study sports related degrees such as coaching, sports development and sports science. Alongside the academic aspect of the course, you will also have access to high quality coaching to enhance your football skills and playing ability.

The level 3 Extended Diploma consists of a range of different topics with a focus on football. The units prepare you for a career within the football industry and include: Sports Coaching, Anatomy & Physiology, Fitness Training, Fitness Testing, Sports Leadership, Practical Sports Performance, Sports Psychology and much more. Each unit covered in the classroom will be applied in an accompanying training session with UEFA A & B qualified coaches. 

The course is assessed through a wide variety of assessment methods. All units are internally assessed using a broad range of assessment methods such as written reports, posters, practical, projects, presentations and work experience. Each individual unit is graded Pass (P), Merit (M) or Distinction (D) coming out with the equivalent of 3 A-Levels. Each assessment helps develop the skills you require for progression to university and ultimately work within the sports industry. 
As part of the course you will be required to complete work experience in a variety of sports settings. Learning through participation in a wide range of sporting roles including organising sports events, refereeing and officiating, designing fitness programmes and coaching.
The BTEC qualification in sports have been developed to meet employment opportunities in the sports and active leisure sector. Itb allows full time learners the opportunity to enter employment in this sector or progress to higher education. Progression onto higher education in sports related degrees is an extremely common pathway for BTEC learners.
