Level 1 – 3 x GCSES at grades E or level 2/3 (including English and Maths)

This is a full time introductory course to the Public Services, for those students who wish to pursue a future career in the Army, RAF, Navy, Police and Fire Service or related organisations.

Students will need a genuine interest in the Public Services, and will need to have the attributes needed to be part of the Public Services such as; Self discipline, motivation, teamwork, enthusiasm and determination.

A basic level of fitness is required however this will be improved over the course of the year.

All students will have to conduct 35 hours of work experience within their year on the course, however some of the enrichment activities you will participate in will count towards this.

Study Programme

All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
