The HABC Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training has been designed to prepare trainee teachers to teach in a wide range of contexts.  It requires observation and assessment of practice.
It can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, including individuals not currently teaching and training but can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements, of the qualification.  Individuals who are currently teaching and training (including those who have just begun teaching) who can meet the practice requirements, including the observed and assessed practice requirements.  Individuals currently working as assessors who wish to achieve a teaching qualification. 

The course is a 35 week programme and learners will need to complete eight units to achieve the Level 4 Certificate:  

  • (H/505/0053) Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3 credits)
  • (A/505/1189) Planning to meet the needs of learners in education and training (3 credits)
  • (M/505/0122) Delivering education and training (6 credits)
  • (F/505/0125) Assessing learners in education and training (6 credits)
  • (L/505/0127) Using resources for education and training (3 credits)
  • (M/502/9545) Develop learning and development programmes (6 credits)
  • (F/502/9551) Engage learners in the learning and development process (6 credits)
  • (K/505/1091) Evaluating learning programmes (3 credits)

Candidates are required to attend even classes 5.30pm – 8.30pm for 16 sessions

This course will be assessed via three observations of practice and assignment work.  You will also be required to evidence a minimum of 30 hours practice to achieve this qualification.
Candidates normally have a placement in place upon application and are already working in a teaching role; however, it is possible to join this course with a volunteer placement. This should be arranged by the applicant prior to starting the course.

Once completing the Level 3 Award in Education and Training you can progress onto the following courses: 

  • Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

However, learners must meet the necessary standards of English, Mathematics and Information and communication technology. Must be able to provide evidence of a minimum of 30 hours of teaching and be able to complete their observations of practice (this can be on a voluntary basis if not in a teaching role, this must be arranged by the candidate prior to starting the course).
