Apprenticeship In Customer Services

Customer Service Apprenticeships provide learners with the skills needed to progress in a wide range of roles, enabling them to support customers before, during and after purchase. Having great customer service skills can help you move up in your career, no matter what area you're working in.  

These qualifications include levels for those at any stage of their career development including those who are just starting out to those responsible for an organisation’s overall customer-service strategy. The customer service qualifications are ideal for those who take pride in having to deal with people. You might be entering or re-entering employment, or working in a customer service delivery role in any industry

Areas covered include understanding and engaging with customers, managing own personal development, understanding employer organisations and communication

As a student of Oldham College you will have full use of all the college facilities

Level 2/3 Diploma in Customer Service (Hybrid Qualification)
Functional Skills in English, Maths (unless already accredited)

Ideally GCSE A-D. However, you will have an opportunity to sit an initial assessment to identify your current Maths and English levels. Minimum entry would be Entry Level 3 for a Level 2 programme and Level 1 for a Level 3 programme.

If you are aged 16-23 the Skills Funding Agency will fund the cost of the training.
If you are aged 24+ an employer contribution would be required.

The variety of careers within this sector is vast. However, individuals should be in a role that has expose to dealing with both internal and external customers. 

Progression routes are available for learners to continue through the work based learning routes. As long as candidates are in a suitable role they can progress to a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship. 

  • The median salary for Financial and Professional Services in the North West is £23,000 per annum.
  • Examples of median annual salaries for Financial and Professional Services occupations include: credit controller £19,000, insurance underwriter £31,000 and legal secretary £17,000 per annum.

Study Programme


All students at Oldham College will participate in a personalised study programme that will maximise your potential and enable you to progress onto employment, apprenticeships or higher education.

This means you will:

  • Study a core qualification in a vocational discipline and continue to develop your English and Maths skills through functional skills, GCSE resits and the option of Level 3 qualifications
  • Participate in meaningful work experience
  • Enjoy a range of enrichment opportunities e.g. basketball, archery, skiing and sign language
  • Take part in dedicated tutorial sessions to review your progress and development
